STUDIES IN KERNOW
The creation of George James has always been rooted in personal expression. It’s shaped by the landscapes I grew up around in South Africa, the people I love, the way I see the world, and the future I hope to build. Everything we design is born from those influences, from a desire to create pieces that feel lived-in, trustworthy, and timeless.
When we set out to create our “Studies in Kernow” series, it felt natural to take the brand to a place that embodies that same spirit. Cornwall and Falmouth in particular, has a quiet, rugged beauty that mirrors the heart of what George James stands for. It’s a place where coastlines stretch endlessly, where the weather changes by the minute, and where life moves at a slower, more intentional pace. There’s a raw honesty to it, and that honesty is something we try to weave into every stitch.
Falmouth holds this unique duality: it’s both a harbour town buzzing with creativity and a gateway to untouched nature. Fishing boats, sailing vessels, students, artists, and old locals all share the same narrow streets. There’s a heritage of craftsmanship that goes back centuries.
Everything we make comes from a place of love. Love for the people around us, love for good design, love for adventure, and love for the idea that clothing can be both beautiful and dependable. Pieces you can grow with, travel with, and eventually pass on.
“Studies in Kernow” was never just a photoshoot. It was a reminder of what we’re building: a brand grounded in authenticity, inspired by real places, and alive with the people who make it possible.
